CobblemonsOCE

Getting started

Ten minutes from nothing to a home, a claim and a Pokémon you caught yourself.

1. The modpack

You cannot join with an ordinary Minecraft client, and this is not gatekeeping — the server runs Cobblemon plus a stack of content mods, and a client without them would be turned away by the game itself rather than by us. The pack carries all of it, pinned to the same versions the server runs.

Import it with the Modrinth app, Prism Launcher or ATLauncher. All three take a .mrpack file directly.

Updating later is safe. The pack does not touch your options file, so your keybinds, volumes and video settings survive every update. The one thing to do by hand, once: turn on the CobblemonsOCE resource pack in Options → Resource Packs, which restyles the server's menus. It stays on from then on.

2. Your first ten minutes

You arrive in the hub. Nothing spawns here — it is for shops, gyms, crates and the noticeboards. When you are ready:

  1. /survival — a short countdown, then you land in the world.
  2. Catch something. Every catch pays $30 into your balance, a species you have never caught pays $150 more, and it all counts towards the daily tasks and the Legacy without you doing anything.
  3. /sethome — so you can always get back. /home returns you.
  4. /claim — your first eight chunks are free. Inside a claim nobody else can build, break, or open your chests.
  5. /menu — everything else lives in here.

3. The world is in two halves

The survival map is one generated world split down the middle at x = 0, with each half on its own server. Walking across the line moves you between them — no loading screen, no disconnect, and you keep everything you are carrying, riding or flying on.

A strip either side of the line is protected, so you cannot claim land on the seam. The world border is at 10,000 blocks in every direction, which is plenty of room and keeps the map from sprawling into nothing.

4. What kills you, and what does not

ThingHere
Hostile mobsNone. Not in caves, not at night, not in the Nether.
HungerOff. Food is for cooking with, not for staying alive.
PvPOff, and your Pokémon cannot attack another player either.
DyingYou keep your inventory. Falling still hurts.
Wild PokémonCan fight back if you hit them first. Still catchable while angry.
Vanilla animalsOnly villagers. No cows, sheep, horses or wolves — this is a Cobblemon world.

Because there are no vanilla animals, wool, leather and a mount have to come from somewhere else. Trade for them, or ride a Pokémon that can carry you.

5. Commands worth knowing on day one

CommandWhat it does
/menuThe Trainer Menu: your profile, settings, and the way into everything.
/hub · /survivalBetween the hub and the world.
/sethome · /homeSomewhere to come back to.
/claimClaim the chunk you are standing in.
/tasksFour a day, each at a rolled difficulty, three swaps.
/legacyThe hundred-rung climb to a legendary of your own.
/spawnsEverything that can spawn where you are standing, and how likely it is.
/gtsBuy and sell Pokémon across the whole network.
/rtpDrops you somewhere random, gliding down on borrowed wings.
/mailLetters and parcels, which arrive whether you are online or not.

6. Two enchantments you will not have seen

Both are ours, and both are twice as rare as Mending, so finding one is an event.

EnchantmentGoes onDoes
TelekinesisAnything that minesDrops go straight to your pack instead of the floor.
ReplenishHoesBreaking a grown crop puts a seed back in the ground.

You do not need either to farm comfortably. Right-clicking a grown crop harvests and replants it in one go, for everybody, with an empty hand or a full one. Telekinesis only changes where the produce lands; Replenish is for when you break a crop rather than pick it.
